MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy improves circulation by bringing oxygen and other nutrients to the body tissues. It relieves muscle tension and pain, increases flexibility and mobility, and helps clear lactic acid and other waste products from the body.

Massage therapists use long, smooth strokes, kneading and other movements focused on superficial layers of muscle using massage oil or lotion.

A typical massage therapy session is between 30-60 minutes. Your massage will begin with a brief consultation and review of symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage involves the use of smooth, heated lava stones applied to the body using long, flowing massage strokes. Deep heat from the stones allows muscle tissue to soften and relax, improving the overall benefit of the massage.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu massage is a unique, non-invasive therapy designed to stimulate the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. Literally translated, the Japanese word shiatsu means “finger pressure.” Shiatsu therapy involves the systematic application of manual pressure to the body in order to assess and treat a variety of conditions. It is founded upon the same principles as acupuncture, although no needles are used.

Lymphatic drainage massage is a therapeutic massage treatment that uses very light pressure and long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase lymphatic flow, with the aim of ridding your body of harmful toxins.

Cupping Massage

Cupping massage may be trendy now, but it actually dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle East Cultures. Cupping is a form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get cupping treatment for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, release of scar tissue and stuck fascia, and as type of deep-tissue massage.

Reflexology

Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet (or the hands). Reflexology is generally relaxing and may help alleviate stress.

The theory behind reflexology is that the areas of foot correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to the foot is believed to bring relaxation and healing to the correspond-ing area of the body.

Several studies indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep.
